In a report entitled "Development and Application of a Model to Estimate Cost to Replace Failing Residential Foundations in Connecticut"

Dated September 5, 2016 by James Mahoney Ellington, CT In Association with the Connecticut Coalition Against Crumbling Basements. It describes in short the issues with the cause with foundation crumbling here in CT.

It references 20 municipalities located in the North Central/Northeastern Connecticut of "failed/falling foundations" The "common thread" seems to be from the JJ Mottes and the aggregate used they used from Becker's Quarry (which is owned by JJ Mottes). The State still does not know the exact number of homes effected or their location.

Still an on-going investigation. More to follow.

Sadly, only a few options are left for the home owners hit by this problem.

- Replace the foundation ($$$$$)

- Knock down the house and rebuild ($$$$$$)

- Just sell at a tremendous loss ($$$$$$)
